Discovering the Value of Peer-to-Peer Learning

I've discovered an overlooked aspect of the entrepreneurial ecosystem: the immense value that lies within peer-to-peer learning.

It's natural to seek advice from seasoned investors and advisors, but in doing so, we sometimes miss out on the goldmine of experience our fellow entrepreneurs possess. Our peers are the in the trenches with us, facing the same hurdles, and their insights and experiences are invaluable as we navigate our entrepreneurial paths.

MBA and Ph.D. Candidates Bring Healthcare Innovation to Market

There is no better learning than through experience.

I learned this lesson firsthand in the 2022 Big Bang! Business Competition. Even with my background as an MBA student, I felt that I had to push past my comfort zone to perform in ways I’d never done before.

It’s one thing to hear or learn about an executive summary, customer call or investor pitch presentation. It’s quite another to try to do it well on the first try.

Lessons in Innovation from San Francisco's Mayor

As a sophomore electrical engineering student, I've always been interested in the intersection of technology and government. When the opportunity arose to visit Mayor London Breed's office, I knew I couldn't pass it up.

Our day started with quick introductions and getting to know each other in front of Gallagher Hall, home of the the Graduate School of Management.

An Inspiring Conversation with San Francisco's Mayor

San Francisco Mayor Breed demonstrates that any peak can be reached if the goal is clear and a hard-working attitude is in place. It was my great pleasure and professional honor to meet her through a special opportunity in my Leaders for the Future Fellowship Program.

My name is Gulnara Nabiyeva. I am an international student from the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2020 I received my master’s in community development at UC Davis. Currently, I am continuing my education as a Ph.D.

A Visit to City Hall

I am a MFA student, graduate teaching assistant and a Keller Pathway Fellow. I was honored to be among the UC Davis students who recently met with a leading innovator in the public service space: San Francisco Mayor London Breed.

I never considered myself an entrepreneur until I discovered this option at UC Davis. As I learned more, I realized that it was the perfect fit for me. I've always been passionate about problem solving and creating things, and entrepreneurship gives me a platform to turn my ideas into something tangible that can make a real difference in the world.

Don't Buy. Borrow!

There are 21 million college and university students in the U.S. When we joined their ranks, we soon experienced a common problem: limited space and budget to spend on everyday items and essentials—everything from textbooks, clothing and sporting goods to irons, mugs, and pots and pans.

These limitations mean that everyone brings in the things they deem most useful, and each student owns a unique set of items distinct from one another.

We saw the potential for a service to coordinate sharing these goods to mutually benefit everyone.
